All,
Today was the day that Digital Scrap Connection was going to close. Many have expressed an interest in the site remaining online and I have decided to do just that but to change the focus of the site from an advertising venue for designers to a social network for digital scrapbookers. So, you can continue using the Digital Scrap Connection site with the following provisions:
1. Premium services that allow advertising on the site will end on January 16th. This means that there will be no banner advertisements displayed on the site other than the Google Ads that support Ning – the site network provider.
2. The free Classifieds section for members will be removed as this is considered advertising.
3. All members may still post their photos, layouts and product previews in the Gallery and include credits and links to where these products can be purchased. Ning does not consider these contributions to be ads as long as the contributions remain on-topic (scrapbook related.)
4. All members may include a slideshow of photos, layouts and/or product previews on their My Page space. These are not considered ads.
5. All members may include links to stores they sell at on their My Page space as long as the stores are on-topic (scrapbooking related.) Any links to non-topic stores or content will need to be removed.
6. All members may include an RSS feed of their non-DSC blogs on their My Page space. If members advertise their products on their non-DSC blogs and include the RSS feed on their My Page space these are not considered ads. Members will be contacted directly regarding any questionable content.
7. Pending feedback from Ning – whether members can still list their new products and store links on their DSC blogs or if it is just ads that have to be removed (i..e, sales, specials, etc.)
8. Pending feedback from Ning – what types of content can be included in the Events Calendar.
9. Pending feedback from Ning – whether members can still share freebies in the Sharing Forum.
I will modify this post as I find out more information.
What I do need are members who would be willing to help moderate the network as my time is still very limited. If anyone is willing to help out please send me an email.
The DSC Resource Center Group for designers and store owners will most likely be removed in the near future however the remaining private groups for designers and store owners will remain active.
Digital Scrap Connection has the potential to be a great resource for all scrapbookers and I hope you find time to visit, inter-act with other members and just have fun!
Take care,
Mona
